Sharath’s out-of-the-box personality attracts Swathi when she first sees him at an economic forum, and slowly the two fall in love.

The story then flashes back to their college days, when Swathi was a chirpy medical student and Sharath was a genius business student.

He is accompanied by a distraught woman – Swathi (Kriti Kharbanda) – who identifies herself as his friend. Googly opens with a badly injured Sharath (Yash), a big business tycoon, being wheeled into a hospital. And I am so glad I chose to watch it, because it was really enjoyable! (Thank you Pardesi for making me wanna write about this!) At the time, I just randomly picked this film because a) It is one of the very few Kannada movies available with subtitles on YouTube, and b) I had heard great things about it. Googly was my third Kannada film, but more importantly it was my first Yash film (by now I have watched Mr and Mrs Ramachari and Moggina Manasu). And thus, began my journey into Kannada film. And for me, the best way to learn a language is by watching movies in that language. I am pretty good with Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi (apart from English, of course), so I decided to make an effort to learn Kannada as a mark of respect to the place I am studying in. Even though I study in Bangalore, I am embarrassed to say that I hardly know Kannada.
